The PC Engine is my favorite Video Game Console of all time. I have a PC Engine Duo like the one shown above.
The PC Engine was a groundbreaking video game console developed by NEC and Hudson Soft and released in 1987. Among its variants, the PC Engine Duo stands out due to its convenient integration of The Hu Card, CD-ROM², and Super CD-ROM² all in one console.
I think this is the best entryway into the world of PC Engine. It is nice to have The CD-ROM² and Super CD-ROM² system cards built-in giving you a nice start and a large library of games to play.
The only System Card you would have to get for The PC Engine Duo is The Arcade Card Duo to allow you to play Arcade CD-ROM² games released for the PC Engine.
My PC Engine Game Collection
I currently have a collection of 52 games for the PC Engine that consists of both original and reproduction games.
Most of my Super CD-ROM² games are PCE Works Reproductions, and all of my Arcade CD-ROM² games are PCE Works Reproductions. Some people do not like PCE Works, and while I understand their concerns, I like the reproductions they have done of many rare and expensive games; there would be no way for me to play them on original hardware otherwise. Unlike many other video game consoles, the PC Engine's rare games are legitimately good and truly worth playing, making PCE Works reproductions essential to my collection.
I also collect PC Engine Fan Magazine and currently have twelve issues.
